Creating an Enterprise-Wide Data-Driven Culture

Overcoming the challenge of legacy cultures, resistance to change and disjointed processes in order to unlock new ways of working with data and analytics. Getting the business to understand what the data team does and embedding the importance of (and collective responsibility for) data across the organisation is essential if companies are to truly embrace and optimise advanced analytics capabilities. A top-down approach is often an essential part of this, so obtaining board level buy-in to secure investment in data initiatives is a key facet of this challenge. Equally, the question of whether the data team should be centralised or decentralised (i.e. integrated within different lines of business) is also a key tenet of the cultural challenge.

Alwyn Thomas, Head of Data Strategy, Financial Times

Establishing a Modern Data Governance Framework

Data governance practices and disciplines have been inherent in a number of organisations for many years, but the evolving regulatory landscape (particularly with the onset of GDPR) has compelled organisations to scrutinise and optimise how they store, manage and process data and create a roadmap of activity. Organisations are seeking an overarching approach to data governance to manage the people, processes and technologies involved in data initiatives in a more modern way.

Realising Tangible Value from Corporate Data and BI

Data and analytics is a core pillar of digital transformation, enabling companies to optimise existing processes, unlock new revenue streams and drive competitive advantage. In order to achieve this, however, organisations must treat their data as an asset so they are able to realise its tangible value in line with wider business objectives. The ROI of data initiatives can often be difficult to explicitly prove â?" companies know that data drives efficiency and reduce costs but it is often difficult to attach to a direct revenue-based outcome, making this quite a challenge.

Executive Boardroom

Attracting, Recruiting and Retaining the Right Talent

Both the CDO themselves and their wider data team need to have the right blend of blend business, IT and data science skills in order to maximise the benefits of data and analytics and align them with strategic business goals. On the data team side, quality data scientists and engineers are very difficult to come by, meaning that it can be difficult to attract the right people to really understand the technical side of data. It is also important to balance this with the right business skills to define and implement the overall data strategy.

Is Digital Transformation Driving the Need for DevSecOps?

There are over 20 million developers working for Enterprise organizations across the globe. The universal desire for faster innovation and Digital Transformation has led to DevOps empowered developers demanding efficient reuse of code, which in turn has led to a growing dependence on open source and third-party software libraries. This velocity means applications are developed faster but it also introduces new security risks.

Join us as we discuss how the modern software supply chain and the drive for digital innovation is putting organizations at risk. And whether it is time to empower every developer to be a DevSecOps expert?
